Chairperson called the meeting to order. The minutes of the February 27, 2012 meeting were read and accepted and will be distributed.
Old Business
7:15 PM – Mr. Baillargeon of 215 Mashapaug Road made a complaint to the DEP about wetlands being disturbed in the right of way bordering his property. Marc Stinson and Karen Hershber, both of the DEP, came out to view the right of way with James Wettlaufer. It was established that we have jurisdiction and that it is being cleared, dug and filled in. The Commission chose to send a letter to abutters at 221 and 225 Mashapaug Road to attend our April 9th meeting to explain what is being done before an enforcement letter will be sent.
7:45 PM – David Kaitbinski and Gary Boniface attended the meeting. Gary Boniface of 11 Craig Road received an Enforcement Order and David Kaitbinski will have the wall finished by September, including 4 to 6 inches of stone, loam and seeding.
New Business
8:00 PM – Virginia Little of 55 Sandy Beach Road, R38-E-2, wants to remove a tree that is undermined by boat wake. The Commission approved removal of the tree but the roots must be left in place.
8:10 PM – Lynn Arnold told Nate Gumlaw that at the Holland Lake Oversight Committee Meeting, the Connecticut DEP is going to request diverting water to restore trout streams and the water will drop by a foot, and may affect Hamilton Reservoir. Nate Gumlaw will discuss this with Mark Stinson of the Massachusetts DEP.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM.
Respectfully submitted by,
Marcia Beal, acting Secretary
